Prism Team go Italian! - 9th-11th November 2007Italy - Florence

All the staff and their partners spent a weekend in the Tuscan city of Florence, to celebrate the company's tenth anniversary. Everyone enjoyed a guided walking tour of the city, which amongst other landmarks, took in the magnificent Duomo. A gala dinner at the Palazzo Gaddi was the highlight of the weekend for many - an excellent four course meal and plenty of wine to wash it down! Some of the more battle hardened party members then sampled various aspect of the Firenze nightlife into the small hours!

Lucozade Sport Hydro Active Womens Challenge - September 2007

Catherine Delahay - Lucozade HydroActive Women's ChallengeLondon's Hyde Park was one of the venues for this year's Lucozade HydroActive Women's Challenge on 16th September 2007 and one of our consultants, Catherine Delahay, was at the start line.

In total, 30,000 women ran the 5km race at the same time in London, Birmingham and Liverpool, in an effort to raise thousands of pounds for their chosen charity.

Catherine was joined by her Mum, and ran in order to raise money for USPG who are a Christian charity that supports vital work amongst the poor and marginalized communities in over 40 countries.

Catherine said “We did the race in just under 35 minutes but it took 10 minutes to even get to the start line and there were bottlenecks around the course where it was only possible to stroll! Next year, I shall start further up in the pack and try to run it in 20!”

Double Up at Cheltenham - March 2007

Jerry Wright, our MD, was in the winner's enclosure again at the Cheltenham Festival when one of the horse's he co owns, 'My Way De Solzen" won for the second year running. This time 'My Way' won the Arkle Chase - the championship race for 2m novice chasers. Owning his third winner at the Festival (the Olympic Games of national hunt racing) was "beyond our wildest dreams", he told the racing press. Jerry and his co-owners are now planning a campaign for the highly talented 7 year old 'My Way' that they hope will end with a run in the 2008 Gold Cup - the blue ribbon event in national hunt racing.

Team Prism and the EnduranceLife Coast to Coast Race 2006

Tara Benton & Martin HancockOver the weekend of 30th September/1st October, Martin Hancock & Tara Benton from Prism's London office competed in the EnduranceLife Coast to Coast Race 2006, a 120-mile adventure race from the northernmost point of Devon to the southernmost. Day one comprised 3 continuous stages a 7 mile run, 60 mile cycle then a further 7 mile run, before camping overnight at the race mid-point on Dartmoor. The Prism Team London to Brighton Bike Ride – Sunday 18th June 2006

Brighton bike rideThe morning started on Clapham Common where after a civilized coffee (standing on the main road with a cup and saucer with all the cycling gear on) before starting the 54 mile bike ride just after 8.30am.

Altogether there were 6 Prism consultants taking part in the bike ride and raising money for charity. Due to the sheer number of people the group split into two and met at various points to see how everyone was doing. Luckily as the day went on it became cloudy – a godsend as it was very hot even without the sun.

Ditchling Beacon which is the last hill before Brighton really was as bad as everyone says it is – some rode all the way while many others got off and pushed, the view was worth it though, as were the cheers of support at the top – and the highlight, definitely the 6 miles downhill at the end as we all felt as though we deserved the rest!

Approximately 8 hours after we started, we were all across the finish line in one state or another! For all involved it was an enjoyable experience and a great sense of satisfaction after all the training.

Martin Hancock running 1 day ACE Race at Ashdown Forest

On May 6th our Managing Consultant from the London Office (Martin Hancock) successfully completed the ACE Race 1 day series in Ashdown Forest, West Sussex.

This was a tough challenge and involved a 5 hour race which was pretty much non-stop from start to finish with an initial run, then a mountain biking phase, then a final run again.

The course was mostly rough terrain - forest and heath/moorland and many hills. During the course you had to pass through 21 checkpoints which had to be visited in order and 4 or 5 of them had 'challenges' which involved, mini-assault courses, mental challenges, river crossings etc. The objective was to get to all the checkpoints within the 5 hours, with the team who gets them all in the quickest time being the winner, so navigation was very important obviously!

It was only Martin’s second such race and his team came 5th in their class (Mixed Pair).

The race was an enjoyable and fast paced event and they are now preparing for the next ACE race!

On Top of the World!

My Way de Solzen, racehorseAn accurate description of our MD, Jerry Wright, back on the 16th March 2006 after the horse he co-owns “My Way De Solzen” won the Ladbroke World Hurdle at the Cheltenham festival of National Hunt Racing. The World Hurdle is the Championship race for experienced, staying hurdlers and is worth over £130,000 to the winner. In a TV interview after the race with Channel 4 racing’s, Derek Thompson, Jerry said “I was lucky enough to be one of the co-owners of “Tiutchev”, who won the Arkle Chase in 2000 and never dreamed I would have a second festival winner – most owners try a lifetime to get one!”

“My Way De Solzen”, a French-bred six year old gelding, is trained by Alan King, with whom Jerry co-owns several horses, and was ridden by leading jockey, Robert “Choc” Thornton!
